Inuktun garners two significant awards.

Inuktun Services Ltd. has been awarded Vancouver Island's Technology Business of the Year by The Business Examiner.

"It's an honour to be recognized as one of the top businesses on Vancouver Island," said Inuktun president Colin Dobell. “It's a great place to live and a good place to do business."

Inuktun is known worldwide for its innovative pipe inspection technology. The B.C.-based robotics company is an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of mobile robotic systems for use in hazardous areas, confined spaces and underwater applications.

The systems have been used by search and rescue crews in New York after 9-11, in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina and, most recently, at the Crandall Canyon mine in Utah after it collapsed in 2007. When U.S. officials put out a call for robotic systems to search for trapped miners, Inuktun lent a system to the rescue effort.

Inuktun was also a finalist in the Manufacturer of the Year Award at the awards ceremony on Jan. 31.
